This build contains a number of fixes for Localization issues that were discovered by the translators. Some missing translations have now been added and other controls have been resized.
I also fixed an error with the License code that was discovered when the Input locate was set to Russian or Greek (and other inputs).
This build has a fix for the issue uncovered in build 302 that prevented Common Applications from launching on some systems.
I've also given up on using the new NTAccount windows system that I was using as it was causing massive delays for some users. I had reports that for some users it could take as long as 10 minutes before Startup Delayer would start launching applications! Therefore I've removed that and recreated the method I used in 2.5. It's not as elegant, but at least its lightning fast.
For all those previously experiencing speed issues on Startup, post in the comments to let me know if this has fixed it for you.
I'm currently working on a fix for Startup Delayer and awaiting some test results. Once this comes back clean I'll release build 303.
Build 303 should solve all known problems with slowness at startup (I'm no longer using Domain Accounts to retrieve information about users, I'm instead doing it the way I did in Startup Delayer 2.5)
This build is a hotfix for build 301. It seems the new method for grabbing the user names and domain information needs some more work as it fails on several systems. This build reverts back to the previous method until I can get it sorted. Unfortunately I'm currently unable to reproduce the same problem here.
I've spent more time investigating optimizations for the startup speed of Startup Delayer itself. Along with the optimizations I've added to the code, when you install this build, the installer will take a few moments to optimize Startup Delayer to start faster on your computer. With this change you should see Startup Delayer's interface appear much quicker when you launch it.
Some users have been experiencing extremely slow startups when using Startup Delayer (2 minutes+). Not just when rebooting, but also just trying to open the interface to view Applications. Please let me know if this fixes or doesn't fix this problem for you as I've been unable to reproduce it on any machines here.
This build has more fixes for the reported errors, along with tweaks and modifications to improve the experience. I've removed the multicolours from the List items. Items are now black, or gray if they're disabled, and that's it.
If you want to discover more about a Startup Item, you can hover over the item as per usual and it'll tell you if it contains a certificate, etc. In a future build I'll add columns for these sort of stats as well.
Another day, another release! I spent my saturday working on fixes and changes for build 299.
Some users have reported that Startup Delayer 3.0 launches Applications a lot slower than 2.5. This build addresses this issue with a number of fixes to the launch process, as well as a new 'Behaviour Wizard'. The first time you launch build 299, you'll be prompted to let Startup Delayer know how you'd like it to launch your applications.
I've fixed various other issues with this release and modified the quick edit bar to be a little clearer by splitting up the CPU/Disk amounts into seperate areas.
There are still a few users using 294 reporting the same crash over and over again in the space of a couple of minutes. Generally once you've reported the issue and it happens again, you don't need to report it again. In fact it just makes more work for me if you continiously send reports without checking for a new version!
I believe I've fixed the extreme slowness issue that some users have been experiencing. It occured during the install step, as well as when you launched Startup Delayer thereafter.
This build is again a maintenance build with some minor default tweaks. I've adjusted the default Idle CPU and Disk from 90% down to 75% idleness. This will only get set for new users. This build also contains the new Localization Tool.
There are still a lot of reports coming in from build 294 and all of the issues reported have been already been fixed. Make sure if you read this, that you grab the latest version, which is now up to 296!
Its been 24 hours since I released Startup Delayer 3.0 and the response has been fantastic!
Thanks to everyone who has downloaded, reported issues and errors and to those who have upgraded to the Premium version!
Startup Delayer 3.0 is now ready for download!
The standard version is free and can be downloaded immediately from the Startup Delayer product page. To gain access to the additional features you'll need to buy the Premium version.
The standard version has a ton of new features over the old 2.x version, so be sure to check it out!
I'll be taking the r2 Studios Site down within the next day or two and performing some Maintenance.
While the Beta testers have been busy with the latest build of Startup Delayer 3.0, I've been revamping some of the backend code for the website.
Startup Delayer 3.0 will come in two editions. Standard and Premium. Standard remains free, while Premium has a small cost associated.
The Premium version has several advanced features and helps to support future development. If you'd like to support the development of Startup Delayer, please consider upgrading to the Premium version.
The Standard version has all the same features as 2.x plus a ton of new features.
Startup Delayer 3.0 a complete re-write from the ground up and has a large amount of new features that aren't in Startup Delayer 2.0. This list of features which were initially quite substantial have now grown from the initial set due to feedback from Beta testers.
